The Hobbiton Movie Set was a significant location used for The Lord of the Rings film trilogy and The Hobbit film trilogy. It is situated on a family run farm about 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) west of Hinuera and 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) southwest of Matamata, in Waikato, New Zealand, and is now a Tolkien tourism destination, offering a guided tour of the set. I can be considered as a lucky person. I managed to visit this magnificent place with its unique beauty. There is plenty of information, often detailed, about the Hobbiton Movie Set on the Internet.
That is a big pleasure to see the place with your own eyes.
After having watched the masterpieces which were filmed here you can imagine the leap into a different universe when you visit. Everything seems to be possible and the village is amazing life-like.
I would like to especially focus this article today on the greenery and gardening work contained within the Hobbiton Movie Set and the surrounding countryside.
Can you imagine how much gardening work is required for everything to be maintained at the same level all year long?
Look at the perfectly manicured grass and the famous tree from the films in the below photo.
The staff here use many different methods to keep all the plants in a permanent state of bloom. With this mind, they have to keep in mind climatic conditions which differ during the year as the Set needs to look the same regardless of when you visit it.
New Zealand is very rich with its varied scenery, green fields and amazing flowers. In case you will have a chance to visit New Zealand, I highly recommend that you visit the Hobbiton Movie Set.
